The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will induct John Lynch into the Ring of Honor, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The Bucs have scheduled a press conference to officially announce the selection on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.

Lynch spent 11 seasons with the Buccaneers after being drafted in the third round of the 1993 draft, finishing his career with four years with the Denver Broncos. After a slow start to his career he turned into one of the best safeties in the NFL for over a decade, being selected for nine Pro Bowls between 1997 and 2007, and being named first-team All-Pro three times during the Bucs' golden years. He was, of course, a starter on Tampa Bay's 2002 Super Bowl-winning team.

In addition to going into the Ring of Honor, Lynch is a Hall of Fame finalist who has a chance to be selected for induction on February 6.

There's a chance the Bucs end up inducting another player this year, as they decided to do in 2015. We'll see what the Bucs officially announce on Friday.
