Jon Robinson "frontrunner" for Titans general manager job

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Update: According to the Tennessean, the Titans will hire Robinson as their general manager.

The Tampa Bay Buccanees appear to be on the verge of losing their director of player personnel. The Tennessee Titans have Jon Robinson at the top of their general manager hiring list, according to Jason La Canfora, and they're expected to make a decision today.

Robinson joined the Bucs alongside Jason Licht in 2014, and by all accounts he's been Licht's right-hand man and highly influential in all the personnel decisions the Bucs have made -- both the good and the bad.  It's not at all clear how relevant Robinson's presence has been and in what ways to the decisions the Bucs have made, which is really always the case in NFL front offices.

Still, Robinson is highly-regarded around the NFL and losing him would be a blow to a Bucs front office that has been far from perfect over the past two seasons. A good front office can handle losing quality employees, though. We'll see if that's the case with the Bucs as well.
