Johnthan Banks says he's "fine" after knee injury

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers seem to have gotten lucky with injuries once again, after Johnthan Banks left the game against the Houston Texans with a knee injury. Banks didn't return to play, but told Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times after the game that he was "fine."

We'll have to wait and see whether that's actually true, as players don't always have the most realistic view of the seriousness of their injuries, but he presumably talked to a physician today.

The Bucs turned to Mike Jenkins to replace Johnthan Banks today, with Alterraun Verner not getting a lot of playing time. That backfired, with Jenkins repeatedly beat on quick throws while Verner held up well when he was called upon to play. I'm not sure what the team's fascination with Jenkins is about, nor what Verner did to be put in the doghouse, but having Banks back should make that a moot point.
