The New Orleans Saints are going to have to miss Drew Brees for several games with a shoulder injury, or so the team expects according to Ian Rapoport. Brees likely injured his shoulder early in the game on a sack by Jacquies Smith in the second quarter -- GIF courtesy of Canal Street Chronicles.
Brees was able to finish the game, but didn't look as sharp as usual. According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Brees' playing status will depend on his response to treatment -- which sounds like a truism, but indicates that he may not miss any time. If he does, the Saints will have to turn to third-round rookie Garrett Grayson instead -- and with games against the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys coming up, that could be highly amusing.
Given that the Saints are 0-2, look like a bad team and will now be missing their quarterback for a number of games, it seems the Saints will have a really tough time remaining competitive in the NFC South. In fact, they may be looking at another disastrous season.
