C.J. Spiller, Mike Evans both active for Buccaneers and Saints

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Mike Evans will play today. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver missed last week and most of the preseason with a hamstring strain, but he participated in most practices -- and the pressure's on the Bucs to play their star receiver, given the team's dismal performance last week.

For the Saints, C.J. Spiller is active for the first time this season, adding even more variation to an already strong Saints running back corps. Those running backs struggled to consistently produce on the ground last week, but they were a massive part of the Saints' passing attack on Sunday. The Saints will also be without safety Jairus Byrd, cornerback Keenan Lewis and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe, three starters with longer-term injuries.

The Bucs will also be missing Major Wright at safety, which means D.J. Swearinger is likely to see a lot of work at strong safety -- he was announced as the starter in his place, next to Bradley McDougald. Pass-rusher Kourtnei Brown is active for the first time and should see a number of snaps on the edge in a rotation. Backup cornerback Mike Jenkins is also out with injury.

Buccaneers inactives: S Major Wright, QB Ryan Griffin, DE T.J. Fatinikun, G Matthew Masifilo, C Jeremiah Warren, RB Mike James, CB Mike Jenkins.

Saints inactives: QB Garrett Grayson, DT Kaleb Eulls, G Mike McGlynn, DE Tavaris Barnes, CB Keenan Lewis, S Jairus Byrd, LB Dannell Ellerbe
