After a strong game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked pretty bad on their first few drives facing the Cleveland Browns. The offensive line struggled to contain a very strong defensive line, with Ali Marpet looking especially bad. Jameis Winston didn't help by holding on to the ball a little too long, but he still made a couple of strong throws to compensate -- of course, he then ended the first quarter with a bad interception under pressure.
The Browns scored without needing the offense to take the field, as Travis Benjamin returned the Bucs' first punt for a touchdown. The Bucs' special teams continue to be an area of concern.
Even the defense got in on the mediocrity, allowing Josh McCown and company to march down the field with very little resistance from Tampa Bay's defense. They even allowed the Browns to convert four third downs -- third down defense was a strength for the Bucs the past two games, but that just disappeared on Cleveland's first offensive drive, which seemed to take forever.
At the end of the first quarter, the Bucs trail 14-0 in their own stadium. Here's your second quarter open thread.
