Mike Evans is going to sit out the rest of the preseason with a hamstring injury, which naturally prompts the question: is he going to be ready for the season opener? It seems that he is. Talking to JoeBucsFan, the receiver said that he could play on Saturday against the Browns if he had to -- implying that he'd have no issue suiting up on opening night against the Tennessee Titans.
Of course, suiting up and playing at 100% are not entirely the same thing. Hamstring injuries tend to linger, and players who play through them still tend to be a little limited early on in their return. Still, any Mike Evans is better than no Mike Evans at all.
Plus, it'll be good to see him actually catch a ball from Jameis Winston. He's been targeted a few times this preseason, but the two haven't hooked up yet -- in part because the throws were low-percentage deep passes. If everything goes right, Winston-to-Evans is going to be a crucial part of the Bucs' offense going forward.
