Jameis Winston won't have to appear in court for a rape accusation until April 3, 2017, according to the Tampa Bay Times' Matt Baker who cites court records. That's the tentative trial date for the civil suit filed against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback by Erica Kinsman, who's accusing the quarterback of raping her in December 2012.
Winston was never arrested or charged for the crime, and has said that he is innocent, even filing a counterclaim against Kinsman for defamation. No trial date has been set for that suit.
With the trial two years in the future, both parties have a lot of time to reach a settlement, if that's what they want to do.
In the mean time, this lawsuit isn't going anywhere, at least not for now, but it won't be an immediate concern for Jameis Winston or for the Buccaneers' PR department for the next two years, either.
