When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Jameis Winston with the number one overall pick, the Bucs assured everyone that this was the result of a long, rigorous process. We've seen some details since -- notes on the number of people they interviewed, and those they didn't, for instance -- but no comprehensive look at the entire process. That's about to change, as the Bucs just announced a lengthy behind-the-scenes look at the draft process on Buccaneers.com called Four Months on the Clock.
"In the making of this feature, I had the privilege to witness aspects of the team's operation that I've never before been privy to, even over more than 20 years on the staff," Buccaneers.com writer Smith said. "Hopefully ‘Four Months on the Clock' will give Buccaneer fans the same opportunity as we continue our efforts to give them a perspective they can't find anywhere else."
Last year, the Buccaneers ran a longform feature on Lovie Smith's first 100 days in office. While it was widely mocked for its length, it was perfect for its audience: Bucs fans. People who want to get a glimpse of every behind-the-scenes thing they can. And that's probably what this new feature will be about, too.
