Buccaneers release mini-camp roster of 55 players

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced the 55-man roster for their rookie mini-camp this weekend. In addition to seven draft picks, 13 undrafted free agents and a slew of try-out players, the Buccaneers are bringing eight previously-signed players with no accrued NFL season into camp -- which is allowed since last year. They may not be rookies, but they're not experienced enough to be excluded from this min-camp, either.

Mini-camp is generally used to get draft picks up to speed with the scheme and to evaluate a whole lot of try-out players and undrafted free agents. Most significantly, though, this will be the first time Jameis Winston gets to be a part of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice, learning the playbook and executing plays on offense.

Oddly enough, the team only has one punter among the tryout players, while it invited three try-out kickers to rookie mini-camp. That may be explained by the fact that the Bucs have two punters on the roster and only one kicker, but it's an odd little detail anyway.
