2015 NFL Draft: Buccaneers remaining needs, draft picks and more

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

The second round of the 2015 NFL draft gets underway at 7:00 p.m. ET today, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hold the second pick. They found a franchise quarterback in Jameis Winston yesterday, a pick everyone saw coming a mile away. And if this draft holds up its fairly predictable display so far, the Bucs will draft an offensive lineman with their second pick.

But that's far from a guarantee. The team has received trade offers, and could always fall in love with a player and take him instead, as they did with Charles Sims last year. Of course, that'd once again leave them with some holes at positions of need.

Remaining needs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers must find at least one starting offensive lineman today, or they're doomed to watch the same putrid showing of "blocking" they witnessed last year. And this time, with a rookie quarterback they need to protect, too. That need is so large that it's overriding: the Bucs basically have only one starting tackle, and no starting right guard.

But those aren't the only needs they still have. Most notably, the Bucs would like to find another defensive end to add to their rotation. It looks like they'll have to manufacture a pass rush by heavily rotating edge rushers this year, and they could use some more talent to join George Johnson and Jacquies Smith. The Bucs could also use a free safety: given that Chris Conte and Major Wright are the two players competing for a starting spot there.
