The first round was fairly subdued, despite the fact that two quarterbacks went first and second overall. There were very few trades and surprises, with only the Rams and Chargers drafting running backs in the top 15 qualifying as a shocking development, after two years of seeing no backs drafted in the first round. But then Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley are significantly better prospects than any of the backs that entered the draft the past couple of years.
