NFL Mock Draft 2015: Mel Kiper sticks with Jameis Winston

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to select Jameis Winston with the number one overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Despite some murmurs about Marcus Mariota, that's still the consensus view of draft analysts -- and that consensus is very strong. It's a view that Mel Kiper once again confirmed in his latest mock draft.

Nothing to see here. I've had Winston going No. 1 overall since my first mock draft and I believe he'll still be there in my final mock draft. It makes sense for Tampa Bay to take a hard look at all options, I just think this is where the Bucs will settle. He's the most NFL-ready QB in the draft. He's big, durable, strong-armed and has both a high football IQ and an ability to read, anticipate and process at a very high level what defenses are trying to do. I think he gives the Bucs the best chance to improve in 2015 over any other option on the board.

Until further notice and strong (and repeated) reports that this is going in a different direction, this is what we'll have to assume as well. And it fits with everything we know. Lovie Smith and Jason Licht have noted before that they have a favorite, and every hint we've seen points at Jameis Winston as being that favorite.

While they've also said that they want to let the process play itself out, we're now just three weeks removed from the time of the pick. There's only so much they can find out in the coming three weeks, and it seems unlikely there's anything left to learn about the top two quarterbacks.
