The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have taken Jameis Winston with the number one overall pick, something a lot of people saw coming miles away. Which means a lot of people bought bright and shiny jerseys with "Winston" across the back and the number five on the jersey, which is what Winston wore at Florida State.
Too bad those are now incorrect.
I've just confirmed with the Bucs that Jameis Winston will wear #3.

Of course, number five was the jersey number of the Bucs' previous prospective franchise quarterback, Josh Freeman. That may be why they decided to go in a different direction with Winston. After all, no one wants to be constantly reminded of that eventual failure.
Winston actually wore no.8 in high school and no.12 in Pop Warner, according to the Bucs' website. I'm not sure why he chose number three instead, but I"m sure it has some significance. Regardless, a lot of people are going to have change their jerseys now -- or just walk around with a slightly inaccurate one, which has never hurt anyone.
