The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have missed on free agent defensive end George Selvie. The former USF product signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants, worth $1.4 million according to Adam Schefter. That's a hefty price for an okay pass rusher, but at some point the Bucs are going to be left with nothing to show for all their financial prudence. That point being right now.
Pat Yasinskas valiantly floated the idea of drafting a defensive end, which makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, the Bucs also need to draft a quarterback, two starting offensive linemen and long-term depth. There's only so many players you can add in one draft, and the Bucs have too many holes to fill them all -- but they also don't really have an alternative.
Meanwhile, the team officially confirmed signing free agent punter Andrew Wilder, which likely means Michael Koenen is on his way out. So at least there's that.
