The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers will play each other at 4:25 p.m. ET next Sunday, instead of 1:00 p.m. ET as originally planned. The NFL juggled its week 17 schedule to give the most relevant games the most exposure.
The Panthers dropped their first game of the season on Sunday, which means they'll no longer be playing for a perfect record. At the same time, they're not playing an entirely meaningless game: they still need a win to clinch home field advantage ahead of the Arizona Cardinals, who play the Seattle Seahawks at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Bucs will be playing for Lovie Smith's career as a Bucs head coach. A win would go a long way toward securing his job, while a loss would put the Bucs on a four-game losing streak to end the season -- sketchy ground for any head coach, especially one coming off a 2-14 season.
