Jason Pierre-Paul will play for Giants against Buccaneers

Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants will suit up Jason Pierre-Paul tomorrow for the first time this year, as the team just announced. The defensive end injured his hand, losing multiple fingers in a fireworks accident this offseason which kept him out for the first half of the 2015 season, but he's ready to go against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

That's bad news for the Bucs, and good news for the Giants who have had one of the worst pass defenses in the league this year. No player has more than three sacks, and they've been completely unable to put together a pass-rush without Pierre-Paul, who has 42 sacks in 72 career games, including 12.5 last season.

It's unclear how much Pierre-Paul will be able to play in his first game back from injury, though. It's likely he'll only play a limited number of snaps as a pass-rush specialist, given the fact that he only returned to practice last week. Even on the plays where he does suit up, it remains to be seen how effective he can be without the full use of his hand.
