Jameis Winston was named Pepsi Rookie of the Week for his performance against Philadelphia Eagles. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback completed 19 of 29 passes for 246 yards and five touchdowns with no turnovers this past Sunday, tying the rookie record for most touchdowns passes in a game and becoming the first rookie to do so while not throwing an interception since Ray Buivid in 1937.
This is WInston's third Rookie of the Week award after winning it in week two and week five, and the Bucs' fifth Rookie of the Week award this week as linebacker Kwon Alexander won it in week three and week eight as well.
Winston also won the FedEx Air Player of the Week award for his performance this week, and has been universally praised for his play. We can comfortably call it his breakout game, although his play wasn't out of line with what he'd shown in the rest of the season. He has six more games to rack up a bunch more awards, and win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
