NFL Power Rankings: Surprise, the Buccaneers are still bad

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

It was weekly national power rankings day yesterday, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers showed up again. Because they do so every week, even if it's not actually interesting.

I could give you a huge list of power rankings here, but they all say the same thing: this team is not good, even if it's not quite the worst. Danny Kelly ranked them 22nd, and the Bucs are generally ranked somewhere between 20th and 25th in other power rankings, by virtue of having won one more game than a whole bunch of two-win teams. That's what happens when you're 3-5, and you keep finding ways to lose winnable games. Though at least the Bucs aren't getting blown out now.

This doesn't really matter. It's just a general view of how people around the league view the Bucs -- and if you buy into wisdom of crowds, maybe it says something about their actual quality. Mostly, though, it's just a reflection of the standings.

But those standings don't lie: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to be a bad team with potential. There are so many ifs on this team that we could fill the bay with hope, but that doesn't buy anyone any wins. This is not going to change until they win more games. Go do so already, Bucs.
