Buccaneers release Kyle Brindza after disastrous performance

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to release kicker Kyle Brindzaaccording to Rick Stroud. Brindza missed two field goals and an extra point against the Carolina Panthers, just one week after missing three field goals and an extra point against the Houston Texans. Overall, he's missed six of twelve field goals this year and two of eight extra points -- a dismal performance by any standards.

Brindza's release was predictable, but the Bucs will now have to find a quality replacement for him. That's easier said than done, as they'll need to find a kicker capable of handling field goals and kickoffs -- and those are in short supply at the moment. The Bucs aren't the only team to say goodbye to their kicker this year, as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington, the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans have fired their kickers -- and the Philadelphia Eagles could join that group as well.

Still, there are plenty of kickers on the market and the Bucs should be able to find someone. We went over a few options here.
