Buccaneers place Louis Murphy on injured reserve, make practice squad moves

Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially placed Louis Murphy on injured reserve, ending his season. The wide receiver suffered a torn ACL on Sunday, which will keep him out well into 2016 -- possibly even affecting his participation next season.

The Bucs did not announce a replacement for Murphy, but it's likely they promote Rannell Hall, Adam Humphries or Evan Spencer from the practice squad to fill that role. Vincent Jackson's injury is still undisclosed, which means they may need some extra help beyond an undrafted practice squad candidate, though.

Speaking of the practice squad, the Bucs also announced that they've released cornerback Keon lyn, cornerback Daxton Swanson and tackle Martin Wallace from the practice squad. Greg Auman reported earlier today that the Bucs had signed former USF and Bills receiver Andre Davis to the practice squad, as well as former Wisconsin guard Ryan Groy. That leaves them with one extra spot on the practice squad, and likely two if they promote a receiver to the regular roster.
