Akeem Spence activated, Buccaneers waive Jeremiah Warren

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have activated Akeem Spence from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, the team announced today. Spence missed the first six weeks of the season with a back injury after playing every game in his first two seasons.

Spence's activation means he's likely to see some action in Tony McDaniel's place, who will not play tomorrow due to a groin injury. Spence has been a reasonably reliable run stopper at nose tackle who hasn't brought much as a pass rusher, though he did show some flashes last season. It remains to be seen whether he can stick on the roster once McDaniel is healthy.

To make room for Spence, the Bucs waived center Jeremiah Warren. That's a good indication that Evan Smith is ready to play tomorrow, as the only interior line backups on the Bucs roster are Kevin Pamphile, who's more of a tackle, and Joe Hawley, who's started at center in Smith's place the past couple of games.
