The 1-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the 1-3 Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Both teams desperately need a win, both to salvage their seasons and to rescue their head coaches from possible firing. Both the Bucs and the Jaguars are coming off tough losses, the Panthers having blown out the Bucs in their own stadium and the Jaguars having lost to the Matt Hasselbeck-led Colts.
The Bucs hope that Jameis Winston can recover from his four interceptions last week, a result of bad decisions and poor throws. The rookie quarterback has shown flashes of good play, making big throws and looking consistently comfortable in the pocket, but none of that matters if he turns over the ball as often as he has this season. The Jaguars present a relatively easy challenge, though, and Winston could use this game to get back on track.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars need to find a way to get out of their seemingly eternal spiral of mediocrity. Blake Bortles hasn't really looked like a fundamentally different quarterback this year: still inconsistent with some big throws, while the defense hasn't been what the Jaguars hoped for when they signed Gus Bradley as their head coach.
