NFL picks and predictions: Patriots vs. Ravens and Seahawks vs. Panthers

We have two games in store for you today: the New England Patriots host the Baltimore Ravens, while the Seattle Seahawks take on the Carolina Panthers in Seattle.

The Ravens and Patriots play at 4:35 p.m. ET. Tom Brady and company are the better team, but the Ravens are no slouches and have been somewhat of a playoff menace for New England in the past. Still, with the game at New England, I'm going to go ahead and say the Patriots win this one. The Vegas line is Patriots -7, though -- and if you're betting against the spread, go with the Ravens. Even if they don't win, they'll make it competitive.

At night, we'll get to see the Seahawks and Panthers. I'd really, really like to see the Panthers win a Super Bowl, if only to have a losing regular season team troll the entire NFL. Yeah, I'm supposed to hate division foes, I guess. And I don't really like the Panthers. But the reactions to them winning the Super Bowl would be amazing.

And truthfully, they could totally do it. The defense has been playing lights out in recent weeks, and I'd watch for Charles Johnson to demolish that somewhat shaky Seattle offensive line. If you're betting against the spread, where the Seahawks have 12-point advantage, I'd absolutely take the Panthers. But if you're just picking winners with no odds? I can't go there. While I'd like to see Carolina win, the odds of that happening are still slim.
