The Buccaneers continued to shuffle their defensive line. After releasing Steven Means and re-signing DE Larry English, the Bucs claimed former Bills defensive lineman Jacquies Smith and released DE Scott Solomon per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times

Solomon was a bit of a surprise because he played fairly well in preseason and made a good account of himself in Week 1.
Smith was waived yesterday by the Bills to make room for Nigel Bradham. According our friends at Buffalo Rumblings, Smith apparently earned his way on to the 53 man roster with a solid pre-season and described him as a "quality edge rusher".
Smith is a 3rd year player who has bounced around various practice squads and yet to play in a regular season NFL game. Apparently the powers-that-be saw more potential in this youngster than Solomon, who has been with the team for the full off-season.
Edit by Leo: The Buccaneers also added Adrian Robinson, a former 3-4 outside linebacker, to the practice squad to provide even more depth at defensive end (according to Jenna Laine). Lovie Smith is clearly not happy about the pass rush situation, and is adding more players with the hope of finding one that can beat a tackle and get after the passer.
