Josh McCown injury: Buccaneers quarterback could play against Steelers

Josh McCown might be back this week, but is more likely to sit out one week.

While a report by Alex Marvez suggested on Friday that Josh McCown would miss "several weeks", local beat writers are not so sure. Specifically, Rick Stroud has repeatedly noted this past weekend and most recently on 620 WDAE that McCown could be back against the Steelers, although he's likely to miss that game.Which implies that he'll likely be back in two weeks, when the Bucs travel to New Orleans.

McCown injured his throwing hand against the Atlanta Falcons after hitting it on a face mask, per ESPN. The veteran wasn't exactly having a good game, what with a pick six and all of five completions on 12 attempts and no first downs. Mike Glennon fared slightly better during the remainder of the game, but was far from perfect as well.

Given Lovie Smith's history of not moving on from quarterbacks, this probably means we'll see Josh McCown back as the team's starter within a few weeks, if not this week. Unless Mike Glennon really blows away the team on Sunday, that is.
