NFL Power Rankings 2014: Buccaneers underestimated in week one

The latest power rankings don't get how good the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are. They never do.

David Manning-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to kick ass this year, as Stephen White so eloquently argues. But it's going to take a while for the rest of the NFL to take notice.

And it's taking the media a while to get up to speed, too. The latest NFL power rankings show as much. SB Nation has the Bucs at number 22*. Fox Sports has the Bucs at number 23. Pete Prisco slides them into the same spot. The New Orleans Times-Picayune throws them a minor bone by making them 18th.

The only ones to get it right? Bleeding Green Nation slides them in at number 13, which is going to be a lot closer to correct than those other rankings. And Bob Glauber at Newsday throws the Bucs in at number 11. That's actually a playoff spot!

*Amusing note, the Bucs are number two in their absurd power rankings, based on the amount of wins without scoring a touchdown on offense over the past decade. My favorite: 2002 against the Ravens, with Derrick Brooks running down the sidelines on a pick six.
