Mason Foster, Gerald McCoy injury updates; Bucs promote Magee

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers look like they'll be missing a couple of key starters against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.

Lovie Smith wasn't too forthcoming with injury updates today, noting only that Michael Johnson was getting better and that Gerald McCoy, Mason Foster and Austin Seferian-Jenkins would not have been able to practice today. Johnson and Seferian-Jenkins missed yesterday's game with lower-body injuries, while McCoy suffered a broken hand and Foster had to leave the game with a shoulder injury.

It's not looking particularly likely that any of those players will be able to suit up on Thursday when the Bucs face the Atlanta Falcons, outside of Michael Johnson about whom Lovie Smith was a little more cryptic and optimistic.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have also promoted linebacker Brandon Magee to the regular season roster, while waiving (injured) cornerback Rashaan Melvin. The latter has been a perpetually injured but promising young cornerback throughout his two years in the league. The former is a second-year undrafted free agent out of Arizona State who stood out due to his physical (and reckless) play in preseason.

Adding Magee to the roster likely signals that Mason Foster is unlikely to play on Thursday.
