Buccaneers vs. Jaguars Inactives: Bucs hold out defensive backs, Jaguars missing receivers

The inactives for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars for tonight's game.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Jacksonville Jaguars face off in just about half an hour. The Bucs are almost completely healthy, with only a couple of defensive backs held out, but the Jaguars have a lot of injuries to take care of.

For the Buccaneers, safety Dashon Goldson and cornerbacks Mike Jenkins and Alterraun Verner won't be playing tonight due to minor injuries, according to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official site. Verner and Jenkins have not participated much in training camp because of "lower leg" injuries, while Goldson is seeing a lower workload as he's still recovering from foot surgery earlier this season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are holding out a slew of players, including running back Toby Gerhart, cornerback Alan Ball, safety Sherrod Martin, wide receivers Cecil Shorts, Tandon Doss and Allen Robinson, tight ends Brandon Barden and Clay Harbor and linebacker J.T. Thomasper Jaguars.com's John Oehser. Former Buccaneer Dekoda Watson will also be absent, as he's on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Expect the starters to play for about a quarter, at least for the Buccaneers, as they're implementing new schemes on both sides of the ball. The Bucs will try to get everyone on the roster some playing time, however, and this game will be crucial for those at the bottom of the roster, who need to show they can contribute not only on the field, but on special teams as well.

Update: DT Jibreel Black and DE Scott Solomon will also be absent from today's game for the Bucs, per Scott Smith.
