NFL Roster Cuts 2014: Buccaneers cut Larry English, have to cut 10 more

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going through their roster cuts in record tempo, having released 12 players so far, if reports are to be believed.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have cut defensive end Larry English and offensive linemen Edawn Coughman, Jeremiah Warren and Andrew Miller, according to Greg Auman, who's killing the reporting on these roster cuts. That makes for 12 total cuts today, after seven were unearthed earlier, and then Anthony Gaitor's release was added to that group. The Bucs have to trim 10 more players before 4:00 p.m. ET tomorrow afternoon.

Larry English notched 2.5 sacks this preseason, but those were all fairly lucky and not necessarily the result of any great skill on his part. His release probably means that Scott Solomon has made the roster, and gives Da'Quan Bowers a little more job security as well -- although he was unlikely to be cut, anyway. With injuries to Gholston and Bowers, the Bucs may want to keep an extra defensive end or two in the short term, anyway.

The Bucs won't be completely done after the initial round of cuts, either. They're likely to add a couple of extra players off the waiver wire from other teams, too.
