The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded Tim Wright and a fourth-round pick to the New England Patriots for former All-Pro guard Logan Mankins, per Adam Schefter. The trade had been announced already, but the exact terms weren't known until now.
That fourth-round pick is quite high given the fact that the Bucs are giving up a very talented, young player in Tim Wright for a 32-year-old guard coming off arguably the worst year in his career. Mankins was still an above-average lineman last year, but he's no longer the All-Pro he used to be and at his age, he won't be a long-term solution, either.
But the Bucs are desperate for help at offensive guard. So desperate that they actually had Richie Incognito in for a visit yesterday. Mankins solves part of the problem by filling in at left guard, and the Bucs think they have the players at other positions to win, and win a lot this year.
So what do you think? Was this too much, or just right?
