Buccaneers waive linebacker Damaso Munoz

The latest roster cut for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is Damaso Munoz.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived linebacker Damaso Munoz, after releasing 12 players yesterday. Munoz is a Canadian Football League veteran who signed with the Bucs this offseason.Shelton Quarles probably hoped the linebacker could follow in his footsteps as a CFL-linebacker-turned-NFL-standout, but alas.

The Bucs have to cut down to 75 players by Tuesday, 4 p.m. ET. That means they have to release two more players, and probably a couple more depending on which players they pick off the waiver wire.

Munoz' release is a bit of a surprise, as he seemed to be a special teams standout throughout the preseason. But with Danny Lansanah, Ka'lial Glaud and Dane Fletcher ahead of him at the various backup linebacker spots, there wasn't much room for him to remain on the roster. The Bucs have a slew of competent linebackers, and need these roster spots to compensate for the many injured defensive linemen and defensive backs.

The Bucs have now made 127 roster moves since Lovie Smith became the team's head coach back in January. The churn is real. If you want to know who's going to get cut next, Leo went at it with a 53-man roster prediction.
