The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released 12 players to start their roster cuts. They have to release three more players to get down to a 75-man roster by Tuesday.
The most surprising names on the list of released players include Eric Page, who was the team's primary returner last year, Jace Daniels, a versatile backup lineman who looked like he had a chance to make the roster, and Tommy Streeter, a large, fast receiver who was dominant in training camp but didn't show up in preseason.
That's one thing all these players have in common, though: their preseason play did not match the Bucs' expectations, and other players outperformed them. Eric Page lost his job to Solomon Patton, who has handled nearly every kick and punt return the past two weeks. Jace Daniels was pushed down the roster by a succession of linemen, while Tommy Streeter saw nearly every receiver on the roster outperform him.
