On Sunday morning, Farrah Franklin was arrested for disorderly conduct, according to TMZ. Who's Farrah Franklin, and why should you care? She's the one Destiny's Child member everyone's forgotten about, and you should care because Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers flew her out to Myrtle Beach.
Apparently, Bowers was with his college teammate Ricky Sapp, going out into town to blow off steam before they had back to training camp. And apparently, they're friends with a former Destiny's Child singer. Good fun. Bowers and Sapp thought she'd been doing drugs, or at least that's what they told police. The police found her in someone's front yard, and she then told the cops she was going to take a nap in the woods. Okay then.
What a crazy night..— Da'Quan Bowers (@DaQuanBowers91) July 20, 2014
So basically, Da'Quan Bowers was present when a girl he knew got completely wasted and decided to go take a nap in the woods. Not exactly relevant for the defensive end's prospects with the Buccaneers, but still a weird story.
What is relevant is his performance this training camp after three disappointing NFL seasons, and an offseason spent trying to get back into shape after another knee surgery. Bowers will have to earn his roster spot this time around, and with Steven Means, Adrian Clayborn and William Gholston vying for playing time, that won't be easy. Bowers has the talent to be the best edge rusher on this team, but he has to actually show it. With this being the final year of his contract, he won't get another opportunity to do so.
Random headlines like this won't help his prospects, but I can't imagine it'll hurt him, either.
