ESPN is reporting that cornerback Darrelle Revis has signed a one year deal with the New England Patriots. The deal is reportedly worth $12 million. It didn't take long for the Patriots, whom were rumored to have been sniffing around about a possible trade, to pounce on the former All-Pro.
Revis will rejoin the AFC East in what has to be one of the strangest one year transitions in the history of the NFL. He goes from being the darling of the New York media, to playing for their biggest rival, with a quick season in Tampa thrown in for good measure. All within a single calendar year. He will replace the other former Buccaneer, Aqib Talib, who recently departed for Denver.
Luckily for everyone, this is only a one year deal. So we'll get to re-live and be inundated with all of the wonderful Revis drama in the next offseason as well!
Although it's sad to see Tampa get so little return out of their huge investment, the fanbase and team can at least now focus solely on football and not the circus that surrounds #24.
