Buccaneers place Brandon Magee on injured reserve, sign Jason Williams

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed linebacker Brandon Magee on injured reserve after he suffered an injury during yesterday's game.

To replace Magee, the Bucs signed linebacker Jason Williams. The former Dallas Cowboy, Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagle has played 57 games since entering the league in 2009 as a third-round pick, and was on the Panthers' roster until last week after a special teams mistake leading to a blocked kick caused them to release the veteran.

Williams is a pretty good athlete who should give the Bucs an immediate special teams boost and would probably fit best at strongside linebacker, if he were to be forced into action.

Williams' help is pretty necessary, given the fact that the Bucs were without Mason Foster due to an Achilles injury on Sunday, and lost Lavonte David to a concussion as well. Orie Lemon, Danny Lansanah and Dane Fletcher are currently the only healthy linebackers on the roster.
