Update: Gerald McCoy returned to the field during the Lions' second drive.
Gerald McCoy suffered what appeared to be a right leg injury during the game against the Detroit Lions and had to be attended to on the field. It's not clear how serious the injury is, exactly, but it did not look good at first glance, and he had to be helped off the field. The injury appeared to occur with no
McCoy had been having a terrific season with 8.5 sacks despite missing a game with a hand injury and was crucial for the team's run defense, so losing him for the game or the season would be a massive blow to the team's defense. With Clinton McDonald out with an injury, too, the Bucs will have to turn to defensive ends Da'Quan Bowers and William Gholston to fill in at defensive tackle in place of McCoy.
The Bucs are officially calling McCoy's nick a knee injury, and he's listed as questionable to return. We'll have more on the injury as the Bucs announce any more information.
