Buccaneers vs. Lions Score Update: Detroit up 7-0 after one quarter

The Detroit Lions are up 7-0 after one quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thanks to a Calvin Johnson touchdown.

The Lions have been able to complete underneath passes at will against the Tampa Bay defense, but the Bucs have shut down Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate down the field while also taking Joique Bell out of the game. The Bucs' strategy is pretty obvious: force Matt Stafford to dink-and-dunk down the field, relying on his inevitable mistakes to win the game on defense.

Unfortunately, the result looks more like the Lions offense dominating the Bucs defense, so far. They've happily been taking those underneath throws, which led to an easy Calvin Johnson touchdown and Matt Stafford being 12/15 for 121 yards, despite a fourth-down stop for the Bucs on the first drive of the game.

Tampa Bay has completely hopeless on offense again, as has been the case for most of the season. The Bucs offensive line can't handle the Lions' defense line, which means Josh McCown is constantly under pressure, which means the offense is going nowhere. This is not new.
