Buccaneers vs. Packers Injuries: Major Wright out, Clinton McDonald, Mason Foster questionable

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to try to beat the Green Bay Packers without safety Major Wright, who's played sparingly for the past month. Bradley McDougald will presumably take his place, which shouldn't present much of an issue for the defense: he's played well at strong safety this season, primarily as a run-stuffer.

Lovie Smith also announced that defensive tackle Clinton McDonald and linebacker Mason Foster will be questionable, after having been limited in practice this week. McDonald hasn't played in a month but is sorely needed now that Gerald McCoy has been placed on injured reserve. If he can't go, Da'Quan Bowers will get a lot of work at three-technique -- he's played reasonably well there, but it's not  his natural position.

As for Foster, Danny Lansanah has filled in for him the past two games, with Orie Lemon jumping in at strongside linebacker. That's worked reasonably well, although Lansanah looked a little uncomfortable in coverage at times. The Bucs may sit Foster to get yet another look at Lansanah at middle linebacker with an eye to the future: Foster's in the final year of his contract, and the Bucs may choose to let him walk and go with Lansanah at middle linebacker instead.
