It was kind of weird when Mike Glennon announced on his radio show (or rather, the weekly Bucs-starting-QB-radio-show) that he'd been benched for Josh McCown. Why would that be where they'd announce it, and why would they even announce it after acting all mysterious in previous weeks?
Turns out it's all his brother's fault.
Once Mike Glennon's brother let the cat out of the bag about QB change, Bucs decided Glennon should reveal it when asked on his radio show— Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) November 5, 2014
In case you didn't know, Glennon's brother went on Twitter and said some bad things about Lovie Smith before deleting his account. Someone could have connected that to Glennon getting benched, but other explanations were plausible, too.
Amusingly, Glennon told Andrew Astleford that announcing the change in starting quarterbacks on his own radio show was a team decision. Maybe they did so as punishment for his brother's stupidity? Gotta control those family members at all times, of course. Lovie Smith enjoys schadenfreude as much as the next guy.
