Inactives: No Doug Martin, Alterraun Verner for Buccaneers

New, comments

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without two key starters today.

Chris Graythen

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to go without Doug Martin for a third straight game. The running back still has not recovered from an ankle injury, likely a high-ankle sprain given the time he's been out now, which means Bobby Rainey and Charles Sims will have to carry the BUcs' offense.

The Bucs will also be without cornerback Alterraun Verner and Luke Stocker. Verner will be replaced by Crezdon Butler, which is likely to be a bit of a disaster.

Surprisingly, the Bucs have also deactivated defensive end Da'Quan Bowers and tackle Kevin Pamphile. The former has apparently completely lost the trust of the coaching staff, or has at least been eclipsed by every other defensive lineman on the roster, despite the fact that he can play both defensive tackle and defensive end. Pamphile was active the past two weeks and actually played reasonably well in the few snaps he received, but apparently the coaching staff doesn't trust him enough.

Meanwhile, Washington is almost entirely healthy today.

Buccaneers inactives: CB Alterraun Verner, RB Doug Martin, WR Robert Herron, CB C.J. Wilson, T Kevin Pamphile, TE Luke Stocker, DE Da'Quan Bowers.

Washington inactives: QB Kirk Cousins, WR Aldrick Robinson, CB Greg Ducre, DE Stephen Bowen, T Tyler Polumbus, WR Santana Moss, G Spencer Long
