The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will probably not have cornerback Alterraun Verner on the field tomorrow, Lovie Smith told Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com today (h/t Roy Cummings).
That's a minor disaster for the Bucs, as the secondary has been very poor throughout the season, and missing their best cornerback won't help. Especially given the fact that the primary backups Crezdon Butler and Brandon Dixon have looked awful, and Butler was repeatedly victimized in the two games he started. And he's expected to start against Washington, too.
Which means the Bucs are going to have to stop DeSean Jackson with a deep safety who hasn't defensed a single pass this season in Dashon Goldson, a cornerback who has been consistently beaten deep in Johnthan Banks, and a cornerback who is just all-around awful in Crezdon Butler. Can't wait!
