Buccaneers sign 12 players to future contract

USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced the signing of twelve players to reserve/futures contracts. The twelve players are CB Marc Anthony, T Emmett Cleary, G Jace Daniels, DT Everett Dawkins, CB Bobby Felder, G Jason Foster, DT David Hunter, K Patrick Murray, QB Jordan Rodgers, LS Patrick Scales, P Jacob Schum, WR Tommy Streeter.

Most of these players were on the Bucs' practice squad at one point or another this past season.

Futures contracts don't really represent a commitment from the team to the player. They simply mean that that player will spend the offseason program with the Bucs. Right up until the point when they're cut, which can happen at any point.

Two names of specific interest on the list: Jordan Rodgers and Tommy Streeter. Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers little brother, and spent the year with the Bucs as their practice squad quarterback after Josh Freeman was traded. While Jordan Rodgers never played under Jeff Tedford, Aaron Rodgers did. Streeter, meanwhile, is a very fast, 6'5" receiver who may have the potential to become a dynamic player at some point down the road.

Of course, they're all practice squad players, so the most likely outcome is that they'll be bad.
