Darrelle Revis blasts Greg Schiano

Greg Schiano wasn't very popular with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' most highly-paid player.

Darrelle Revis unloaded on Greg Schiano at the Pro Bowl, in talking to the Tampa Bay Times. He said that Schiano created a tense atmosphere, where "guys didn't like coming to work."

"Thats one of the things you have to have, a stress-free atmosphere and environment. You're going to get everything out of everybody if it's stress-free and let people be who they are. I just didn't feel he did a very good job of that. It was a learning experience for him as well, and hopefully, if he ever gets another stab at it, he'll do things differently."

Revis didn't stop there, though. He said that other Pro Bowl players called Schiano's schemes a "joke". That's no surprise to anyone who's paid attention to, really, any of the blogs or analysts covering the Bucs. The stunts and moves on the defensive line stifled the pass rush. The way Darrelle Revis was used made little sense. The offense was, until late in the year, limited, especially in the pass game.

So why did he never really adjust? Because he refused to listen to his players. "I wish he would have listened to some of the players a little bit more," Revis said. "Especially the veterans and some of the older guys. We can go down the line like Dashon Goldson, Davin Joseph, Carl Nicks, Vincent Jackson and those type of guys and listen to them. But he was the boss, and you've got to fall in line."

With Lovie Smith, all of that should change this season.
