Buccaneers officially hire Lovie Smith

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made the hiring of Lovie Smith as head coach official.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have finally made the hiring of Lovie Smith official, one day after it leaked. Smith has reportedly signed a four-year contract with a club option for a fifth year, at a reported $5 million per year, per ESPN. The Buccaneers are calling it a five-year deal. Smith will bring in Jeff Tedford as his offensive coordinator, while either Rod Marinelli or Leslie Fraizer is expected to be

The Bucs will officially introduce Smith at a press conference on Monday at 2 p.m. ET.

Co-chairman Bryan Glazer called this an "exciting day for the Buccaneer organization, and the entire Tampa Bay community, as we welcome back Lovie Smith. Lovie is an ccomplished and well-respected head coach who has enjoyed success at every level of his 30-year career. We knew from the start of our search that he was the ideal man to lead this team into this new era of Buccaneer football."

The tougher questions have yet to be answered, though. We don't know which assistants will be retained, which assistants will be brought in and, most importantly, who will be the team's general manager going forward.
