Dashon Goldson fined $100,000 for hit on Darren Sproles

No suspension, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety will have to dig deep to pay for his sins.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got lucky when Dashon Goldson won his appeal, but the NFL wasn't exactly lenient: they fined him $100,000 for his hit on Darren Sproles according to Fox Sports.

That's a pretty hefty fine, and it brings the total of his NFL fines to a whopping $207,500, based on this story and last week's $30,000 fine. He has 15 personal fouls since 2010, which leads the league over that period, although 'only' five of those appear to have been for illegal hits.

While Goldson was lucky to escape suspension this week, given the escalating punishments it seems unlikely that he'll get off with just a fine for his next illegal hit. Goldson will have to adjust his strike zone, which Greg Schiano has said the safety is trying to do.
