Saints vs. Buccaneers delayed due to lightning

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have to wait a little longer

UPDATE: Play resumed at 5:28 PM.

UPDATE: At 5:15 PM, the officials announced that the players would have a ten-minute warmup period before the game restarts. Which should be around 5:30 PM.

UPDATE: At around 4:50 PM, the NFL gave a 25-minute timetable, which should put the return at 5:15 PM ET.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just can't run away from weird drama, today. Their game against the New Orleans Saints has been suspended for 30 to 45 minutes because of lightning in the immediate area. The Bucs are trailing the Saints 3-0 after Drew Brees marched down the field, before getting stopped by Gerald McCoy's first sack of the year.

The Buccaneers should return to the field around 5 PM, by that estimate. Meanwhile, most of us appear to be enjoying Arizona vs. Detroit rather than the Manning Bowl. Annoying, but such is life. We'll have to wait to see if the Buccaneers can improve on last week's outing.

The delay started at 4:20 PM after the New Orleans Saints managed to get a field goal on their opening drive. The Buccaneers will have the ball at their own 20-yard line once the game resumes. If the Buccaneers win, they will lead the division by virtue of having a better division record than the Saints and Falcons, who both have one win.
