NFL Power Rankings: Buccaneers drop to 25th in week 2 power rankings

Losing to the New York Jets does not help the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' reputation.

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suck, if we can believe the national power rankings. And, you know, after losing to the Jets in a sloppy, penalty-filled game, I can't blame anyone for feeling that way. Which is why we see the Bucs ranked 25th on average in today's power rankings. Yup. That's bad.

Not exactly how you want to lose a game ... to the Jets. Josh Freeman didn't help his case with a 48 percent completion rate, but neither did Greg Schiano whose team almost had this one in the bag.

In a division with Brees, Ryan and Newton, it's no surprise the Bucs upgraded defensive backs. Darrelle Revis, Dashon Goldson and Johnthan Banks will fortify the secondary.

It will be interesting to see how long this coaching staff sticks with Josh Freeman. I'm not sure they have a better option, but you couldn't blame them for looking at this point.

They likely win if not for that personal foul call on linebacker Lavonte David. Still, you can't be in position to lose to the Jets.

That was a stinging loss against the Jets. That late penalty was a killer, but how do they let the Jets stay around to do that?
