The San Francisco 49ers have announced the signing cornerback Eric Wright. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had tried to trade the cornerback to San Francisco last month, but he couldn't pass his physical at the time, voiding the trade. The Bucs then decided to cut bait with the cornerback, who had been arrested for DUI earlier that month, presumably prompting the trade talks and subsequent cutting of ties.
One might think that he would now be healthy -- except the 49ers placed him on the Non-Football-Injury/Illness list, so it seems he still couldn't pass a physical. But he's healthy enough to be on the roster, or something. Of course, the 49ers didn't have to give up a draft pick to the Buccaneers to sign him.
Meanwhile, the Bucs are having a slew of inexperienced players fight for the role of starting cornerback. We'll see later today how they perform, when the Buccaneers take on the Ravens.
