Danny Gorrer Injury: Buccaneers cornerback out for 4-6 weeks?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have to make due without their prospective third or fourth cornerback.

It seems Danny Gorrer's groin injury, which has kept him out since the preseason opener, may be a little more serious than we believed. At least, that's what he said on Twitter.

It's not clear whether that refers to his time starting now, or his recovery time from when he suffered the injury, which would be a little over two weeks ago. The difference there would be how many games Gorrer is likely to miss at the start of the season. Regardless, it seems unlikely he'll make the season opener. Thankfully, the Bucs aren't likely to be in trouble against the Jets' receiving corps.

Danny Gorrer was one of a host of backup players who got a lot of playing time last season, and he may have played the least bad football on a horrible secondary of the bunch. But Gorrer has consistently received praise this offseason and looked very, very good in the preseason opener. He picked off Joe Flacco once and broke up another pass.

He looked explosive when transitioning out of his backpedal, which was something I hadn't seen much last season. If he can get healthy and keep that play up, he could be a real asset in a secondary that lacks depth.
